The Evergreen High School shooting in Colorado is the latest reminder of how digital subcultures fuel real-world violence. Sixteen-year-old Desmond Holly, who injured two classmates before killing himself, left behind a trail of online extremism: antisemitic conspiracy theories, homages to past mass killers, and participation in gore-filled extremist communities. His case echoes a growing pattern—youth radicalized through decentralized online networks where mass murderers are glorified as “saints” and imitation is the central aspiration.
