New from GPAHE: Election-Denying Organizations Ramping Up Efforts to Monitor Voting and Sow Disinformation about Election “Fraud”
As the 2024 election nears, election-denying organizations are doubling down on disinformation and creating chaos around voter fraud claims. Groups like True the Vote and key figures such as Mike Lindell are encouraging their followers to monitor dropboxes, report alleged fraud through apps, and serve as election observers. Despite no credible evidence of widespread fraud in previous elections, these efforts aim to erode public trust in the electoral process by amplifying baseless accusations and incentivizing private citizens to engage in surveillance.

A new resource by our good partners at Woven Teaching, “Defending Democracy” is a free, downloadable curriculum about protecting democracy and fighting against authoritarianism for high school educators.
Inspired by Timothy Snyder’s, On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century, the curriculum’s 15 lessons encourage civic engagement and global citizenship, and emphasize critical thinking, media literacy and community-building.
