New GPAHE research reveals a dramatic rise in violent rhetoric and calls for impeachment targeting U.S. judges, amplified by Donald Trump and his far-right allies, including Elon Musk, Stephen Miller, and others. The study shows a 327 percent increase in these threats from May 2024 to March 2025, with spikes linked to Trump’s and his allies’ attacks on the judiciary. These dangerous attacks mirror authoritarian tactics seen abroad and pose a direct, existential threat to the rule of law in the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has warned that this relentless campaign undermines the very foundation of democracy and the Constitution.

The Trump administration is increasingly taking its direction from far-right online activists like Chaya Raichik (Libs of TikTok), Jennica Pounds, and Chris Rufo, who are using their influence to target federal agencies, employees and NGOs they disagree with. Social media platforms, particularly X/Twitter, are becoming key tools to solicit ideas for efforts led by Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to defund NGOs, fire workers, and reshape the government. These activists are pushing for an authoritarian overhaul under the framework of Project 2025, and their collaboration with DOGE is accelerating the dismantling of critical government services and policies they dislike.

With 2.5 million people at risk, the attackers—linked to global far-right hate groups and online extremist networks—planned to use bombs and molotov cocktails in what police described as a hate-driven “spiritual war.” The case mirrors a broader trend: LGBTQ+ events are increasingly targeted by radical groups emboldened by political and religious extremism, from Brazil to Hungary to the U.S. As Pride Month nears, the world must reckon with the global rise in coordinated anti-LGBTQ+ hate.

GPAHE’S take: At an unsanctioned event at Harvard this week, political philosopher Danielle Allen debated Curtis Yarvin, an extremist blogger who has influenced figures like JD Vance and is known for promoting dictatorship and the dismantling of democracy. Organized by the far-right publisher Passage Press, the event is another example of how anti-democratic ideology is being mainstreamed.
