New from GPAHE: Death Threats Against the Judiciary Soar as Fringe Platforms Embrace Authoritarianism
In the wake of court decisions going against Trump’s policies, the United States is experiencing an unprecedented level of attacks on the judiciary, inspired in part by the escalating rhetoric of the Trump administration, Elon Musk and other GOP leaders. Trump spent much of February targeting judges who denied his executive orders as “activist judge[s],” while Musk has been on a Twitter tirade aimed at the judiciary, including calls for impeachment and slandering judges as “pseudo-jurist[s],” “corrupt,” “radical,” and even “evil.” The resulting online calls for death to judges serve as a worrying indicator for more violence and democratic backsliding.

Komov’s ties to far-right U.S. groups and his role in advancing anti-rights agendas globally underscore the influence of Putin’s allies in shaping international conservative movements. As efforts to hold oligarchs accountable are hindered under Trump’s administration, these networks will continue to pose a major threat to LGBTQ+ rights.

The Guardian: FBI investigations of far right on road to nowhere under Kash Patel, experts warn
“I think it makes it very unlikely that the far right will continue to be seen as the threat it actually is in terms of hate crimes and domestic terrorism…Patel’s past QAnon links and Bongino’s bigotry likely make taking this threat seriously, regardless of the facts, impossible for these two men,”said Heidi Beirich, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism.
GPAHE’s take: New FBI Director Kash Patel, who peddled QAnon conspiracies and wrote a children’s book portraying president Donald Trump as a king, has signalled he isn’t interested in pursuing insurrectionists amid a resurgence of far-right extremist groups. Instead, he has put Black Lives Matter, antifascist activists, the media and his own FBI agents on watch. This abandonment of domestic terrorism investigations comes as white supremacist groups are growing and emboldened, and those connected to terrorism, like The Base, are resurging.
