GPAHE has launched a series of profiles examining key actors in American Christian nationalism in post–Project 2025 America. Christian nationalism is distinct from Christianity itself and mainstream churches have publicly rejected the movement as a distortion of the Christian faith. The figures profiled in this ongoing series are among the most influential voices advancing conservative Christian supremacist rule.
Franklin Graham transformed one of the most recognizable names in evangelical Christianity into a political machine tied directly to Trumpism and the Christian nationalist movement. He has portrayed LGBTQ+ rights, secularism, and political opposition to Trump as signs of moral collapse, while repeatedly framing Trump, who appointed him to the Religious Liberty Commission, as divinely protected and chosen by God.
Mark Driscoll represents another side of the same movement: the remaking of a disgraced pastor through MAGA media and Christian nationalist networks. Forced out of Mars Hill Church amid allegations of abuse, manipulation, and authoritarian leadership, Driscoll rebuilt his platform through alliances with Turning Point USA and far-right allies preaching spiritual warfare against feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, secular government, and democracy.

Gregory Bovino’s appearance at a “Remigration Summit” in Portugal underscores the growing convergence between Trump’s anti-immigrant policies and rhetoric and extremist movements promoting racist mass deportation politics. The conference brought together white nationalist figures, European far-right parties, and extremist groups advancing the “remigration” ideology, which argues for ethnically cleansing people of color from traditionally white countries.
“It’s a major coup for the remigration folks to have a former Trump administration official, a person who was in charge of mass deportations, to come and speak with them [and] say he’s on the same page, and that Trump’s policies are essentially remigration,” said Heidi Beirich, co-founder of GPAHE.
Bovino’s participation highlights how once-fringe narratives promoted by racists are increasingly gaining legitimacy in the Trump administration and across the far right.
