GPAHE reports a disturbing surge in online hate directed at Vice President Kamala Harris in the days following President Joe Biden’s decision not to run again. Platforms like 4chan and the Fediverse experienced a surge of 525 percent and 2,328 percent respectively in racist and misogynistic content directed at Harris from July 19 to July 21. These posts, which often blended anti-Black, anti-South Asian, and misogynistic slurs, reflect a broader trend of targeted online abuse directed at Harris. GPAHE’s report underscores the urgent necessity to address the proliferation of hate speech on digital platforms.
