Yes! Magazine: Understanding Project 2025’s Threat to Democracy

“This vision of the world that seems from the 1950’s, is something that those people want. And so for them, it’s motivating. It’s for the rest of us who make up the majority of the country to realize that this is a disastrous, authoritarian, rights stripping path, and we have to stop it.” — GPAHE co-founder Heidi Beirich.

GPAHE’s take: The dangers of Project 2025 to specific communities and our democracy have been a focus for GPAHE since last year. Take a look at our easy-to-read analysis of how Project 2025 and its Christian Nationalist agenda could shape the future of American politics.

NEW from GPAHE: Despite Previous Reporting, Fortnite Continues to Platform Violent Political and Antisemitic Content

GPAHE has highlighted ongoing issues with Fortnite hosting violent, political, and antisemitic content. Specific games such as one set in a concentration camp where Jews can be killed and political candidates fight each other propagate hate. Epic Games, which owns Fortnite, has taken insufficient actions to curb these trends. GPAHE urges Fortnite to adopt stricter content moderation policies to prevent the spread of hateful ideologies and political violence on their platform.

WIRED covered GPAHE’s report in Fortnite Has a Political Violence Problem

Wendy Via, CEO and president of the GPAHE, says that, just like on any platform where users can create their own content, “you’re going to see absolutely everything” on Fortnite. But Via says that, while moderating games may be difficult, it’s clear companies can figure it out when they really want to.“ As soon as [the Trump assassination game] was up, they got it down. So why can’t they take down this other stuff?”

GPAHE’s take: The WIRED article highlights how Fortnite continues to be a platform for violent political and antisemitic content, despite efforts to monitor and remove such material. This persistent issue underscores the challenges gaming companies face in managing user-generated content and ensuring safe online environments.
