GPAHE Brings You the Latest News in Far-Right Hate and Extremism

USA Today: Identifying Jan. 6 suspects, military failures and harassment campaigns: Extremism in 2023

“In July, USA TODAY’s investigation concluded the military’s two-year effort to eradicate extremism had all but sputtered out… Many had hoped the Jan. 6 riot, for which dozens of current and former members of the military have been charged, would serve as a wake-up call for the armed forces.”

GPAHE’s take: GPAHE has provided expert testimony in the investigation of January 6th and on extremism in the military. We have worked to inform, educate, and make recommendations to policymakers on how to address extremism in the military. The lack of a coordinated response to address this issue highlights the crucial need for a more comprehensive approach to ensure that veterans are protected from extremist recruitment.

VOA: Antisemitism, Islamophobia Surge in 2023, Watchdogs Say

“People on both sides of any contentious debate [must] maintain a firm distinction between legitimate criticism of a given policy and verbal threats or intimidation of a given ethnic- or faith-based community.”

GPAHE’s take: GPAHE documented a frightening rise in anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim hate speech on unregulated fringe platforms following the attacks on October 7. Since then, we have further documented a “new normal” of the level of violent and bigoted online hate speech. Normalizing antisemitism and anti-Muslim language poses a broader and more insidious threat.

The Guardian: Far-right extremists stage rural land grab across Germany

“Authorities and NGOs monitoring far-right groups say the members of the Reichsbürger movement (far-right groups that reject the post-WWII state and seek to overthrow the government) are making a targeted effort to establish parallel societies and infiltrate existing structures including schools, clubs, and public offices.”

GPAHE’s take: We’ve researched and published a thorough report uncovering far-right extremist groups in Germany, notably Königreich Deutschland (Kingdom of Germany), described in the article. This cult-like faction has established a king, its own currency, and passports, and is closely tied to groups with antisemitic leanings. ____________________________________________________________________________

CNN: Record number of anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced in 2023

“By the end of the year, 84 bills were signed into law in 23 states. That’s 16% of the total number of bills filed across the country in 2023. Tennessee and North Dakota tied for the most number of anti-LGBTQ bills passed, with 10 each.”

GPAHE’s take: Our extensive research on Project 2025 outlines the far-right authoritarian playbook that has fueled this deluge of anti-LGBTQ+ laws and aims to strip a myriad of rights from vulnerable groups. We continue to warn that this plan not only harms those directly targeted, like the LGBTQ+ community, but Project 2025 threatens the protection, freedom, and rights of everyone.
