Update from GPAHE: Confirmation Hearings of Kash Patel and Tulsi Gabbard Reveal Dangerous Flaws in Their Qualifications.
The confirmation hearings of Kash Patel for head of the FBI and Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence this week revealed a distinct shift toward authoritarianism and the reward for loyalty to Trump. Patel, a supporter of conspiracy theories like QAnon, has advocated for prosecuting journalists and weaponizing law enforcement to go after an “enemies list.” Gabbard, once a Democrat, with very little intelligence experience, has aligned herself with Trump’s agenda. She has defended Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and met with the recently ousted Syrian dictator.

Statement from GPAHE: Trans Military Ban Signals Shift Toward Christian Nationalism, Threatening LGBTQ+ Rights.
The Trump trans military ban is a cruel shift toward Christian Nationalism, targeting LGBTQ+ service members and undermining military integrity. With Pete Hegseth at the helm of the Pentagon, the policy reflects a broader effort to institutionalize far-right ideology. An unqualified ideologue, Hegseth has pushed Christian Nationalist rhetoric, attacking democracy, feminism, Muslims, and public education. His appointment marks a dangerous shift in U.S. military leadership, embedding extremist views at the highest levels of power.
As Heidi Beirich noted in a recent NPR All Things Considered interview, efforts to root out extremism in the military have already stalled due to political pressure. “I do think we’ve lost momentum because of the politicization of the process, meaning the Pentagon has shied away from making this a centerpiece of its efforts in the last few years,” Beirich said.

Mother Jones: Elon Musk Tells Extremist AfD Party Rally That Germans Need to “Move On” from “Past Guilt”
GPAHE’s take: Elon Musk’s appearance at a rally for the far-right German political party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), which is under surveillance for extremism by the German authorities, highlights his increasing alignment with extremist politics. AfD promotes xenophobic ideologies and the white nationalist concept of “remigration,” meaning ethnic cleansing of those of non-European descent. Musk’s support for the party further mainstreams white nationalist ideas and his involvement reinforces global far-right connections as GPAHE reported last week. “It’s the thing that brings together the far-right in multiple countries,” Heidi Beirich, told Mother Jones.
