New from GPAHE: Remigration: How A European Ethnic Cleansing Proposal Devised by White Supremacists Became Official Trump Policy
“Remigration,” a concept rooted in neo-Nazi ideology and tied to the racist Great Replacement conspiracy theory, is no longer confined to the far-right fringe. The idea reframes ethnic cleansing as policy, promoting the forced expulsion of non-white people from Western countries. Once driven primarily by European extremists such as Austria’s Martin Sellner, the concept is now reflected in U.S. politics as Trump’s rhetoric increasingly mirrors its themes, calling for mass expulsions and framing national identity in racial terms. This dangerous idea is being put into practice through escalating immigration enforcement actions, including aggressive ICE operations and detention practices, that have already produced abuse, violence and death. Reports of State Department interest in a remigration office, and a DHS post invoking “remigrate,” illustrate how an idea devised by white supremacists is now being embraced by the Trump administration.

While German authorities warn the AfD poses an extremist threat to the country, the Trump administration and its allies are elevating the party’s profile in the United States, helping normalize a transnational far-right partnership that pushes rhetoric and policy ideas once confined to the far right fringe.

WIRED: Trump Doesn’t Need the Proud Boys Anymore
The Proud Boys aren’t flooding the streets during the current wave of anti-ICE protests because, for many far-right extremists, they don’t need to. Trump’s militarization of ICE and DHS, the administration’s embrace of white nationalist rhetoric, and DHS recruitment posts echoing extremist messaging have convinced white supremacists that their goals are being carried out by the government itself. “They are very enthused about what’s happening, because for many of them, [ICE and the DHS are] following what their blueprint would have been anyway,” says Wendy Via, co-founder of GPAHE.
