New from GPAHE: Amid Meta Policy Changes, Neo-Nazis Monetize Hate on Instagram
In a disturbing shift, Meta’s recent policy changes have created a breeding ground for neo-Nazi content on Instagram. Despite rules against hate speech and extremist ideologies, accounts are openly promoting antisemitic rhetoric, Nazi symbols, and violent calls for genocide. Shockingly, these accounts are monetizing their hate, linking to storefronts like Shopify, selling shirts adorned with Nazi imagery and slogans like “Make Europe Great Again.” They’re even co-opting the image of a super pop star. Meta’s lack of enforcement—coupled with its loosening of content moderation—has allowed hate to thrive on its platform, facilitating the spread of dangerous ideologies with chilling ease.

New from GPAHE: Is This the End of the Proud Boys?
The Proud Boys are at a breaking point. A Washington, D.C., court ruling has barred the group from using its name and logo, dealing a major blow to its brand and finances. The decision follows a lawsuit by the Metropolitan AME Church, which was vandalized by Proud Boys members in 2020. GPAHE co-founder Heidi Beirich served as an expert witness in the case, which marks a significant legal defeat for the group. At the same time, former leader Enrique Tarrio’s release from prison has deepened divisions within the organization. Several factions are rejecting him—citing his past as a federal informant—and the rupture has led to the formation of the “Autonomous Proud Boys,” a breakaway movement distancing itself from Tarrio’s leadership.
With its identity in legal jeopardy and internal fractures widening, the group’s future remains uncertain as it heads into 2025.
