New Country Extremist Report from GPAHE: Far-Right Hate and Extremist Groups in Spain
A new report from GPAHE reveals an extensive and internationally connected far-right extremist landscape in Spain. Released amid the backdrop of July’s outbreak of four-day’s of anti-immigrant violence in Torre Pacheco, Murcia—led by the group “Deport Them Now”—the report identifies eighteen active far-right organizations, including neo-Nazis, white nationalists, conspiracy-driven movements, and powerful anti-LGBTQ+ groups. It highlights how Spain’s history of antisemitism influences today’s landscape and how actors like Political Network for Values, Vox, CitizenGO, La Falange, and Democracia Nacional are spreading ultranationalist, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ+ agendas while forging transnational ties with extremist networks in the U.S., Latin America, and Hungary. The combination of Director Gabbard’s and President Trump’s conspiracy-laden and racist posts, not only inflamed extremists, but further normalized language and ideas that are completely unacceptable in a thriving democracy. GPAHE’s take: Death threats and violent rhetoric against former President Barack Obama surged after Donald Trump accused him of treason and posted a racist AI-generated video depicting Obama’s arrest. The escalation followed Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s release of a report alleging Obama fabricated intelligence about Russian interference in the 2016 election. GPAHE documented an alarmingly sharp rise in extremist calls for Obama’s imprisonment or execution across platforms like Truth Social, Gab, and Telegram—underscoring how conspiracy theories spread by high-ranking officials can incite real-world threats.
