Their stated goal is to create an “ideal” America that would see women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, people of color, and others deprived of their hard-won constitutional rights and the erosion of environmental and education protections. It also advocates for a frightening centralization of power in the executive branch. This week we look at reactions from Project 2025’s creators and allies to the election of Donald Trump and their renewed hopes that the Project 2025 vision will be enacted when Trump takes office in January, 2025.
In the hours following Donald Trump’s electoral victory, the architects of Project 2025 emerged from their strategic silence generated by Trump’s so-called disavowal of the plan, with remarkable speed and coordination. The Heritage Foundation’s 920-page blueprint for restructuring American governance, once carefully downplayed, has now moved to center stage as its creators openly celebrate their incoming influence and jockey for administration positions. Measured advocacy became open rhetoric.
On November 6, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts sent out a fundraising email to supporters, asking for financial contributions to help begin the work outlined in Heritage’s Project 2025, dismantling the administrative state and steering the United States toward an autocratic, Christian Nationalist future.
With President Trump’s decisive electoral victory, America can finally turn the page on four years of destructive leftist policies.

The administrative state won’t go down without a fight. Right now, they are terrified and are going into full defense mode. They will stop at nothing to retain their power over the American people.
This fundraising missive followed Tuesday night’s congratulatory post, where Roberts wrote: “President Trump has achieved a historic and hard-fought victory: overcoming four sham indictments, surviving two assassination attempts, and overcoming an unprecedented mid-race candidate swap to become the first president since Grover Cleveland to win two nonconsecutive terms.”
Others associated with Project 2025 emerged from the online shadows to rejoice in the election of Donald Trump, for whom Project 2025’s playbook was designed. The majority of the Mandate for Leadership’s contributors have ties to Trump and his first administration, and Trump’s repeated disavowal of Project 2025 during the campaign seemed disingenuous as it’s now clear that it was a stunt to help win the election.
Among the Project 2025 supporters is the director of Turning Point USA’s production company and former BuzzFeed plagiarist, Benny Johnson, who saw fit to post that Project 2025 was “real the whole time.”
Others have followed suit, including the Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, a Project 2025 ally whose tweet “Now that the election is over I think we can finally say that yeah actually Project 2025 is the agenda. Lol,” was retweeted by the Claremont Institute’s Jeremy Carl (a champion of anti-white racism), and read aloud by Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk on their podcasts “Matt Walsh, I think, is a very smart and funny guy,” Bannon declared, calling the post “fabulous” and asking his staff to post the message to social media.
Later in the same broadcast, Bannon held up a bound copy of Project 2025’s Mandate for Leadership.
The excitement at implementing some of Project 2025’s harmful recommendations and Trump’s dark agenda on immigration, which calls for using the military to deport migrants, is palpable. And it cannot be enacted soon enough for Heritage’s Lora Ries, who retweeted a disturbing post from the Center for Immigration Studies head Mark Krikorian, who wrote
“Message to illegal aliens (incl. “asylum-seekers”, parole, TPS, DED, etc, etc): Use the next couple of months to get your affairs in order, pack up your belongings, and go home for Christmas on your own terms. It’ll be easier for everyone, & more dignified than the alternative.”
Corey DeAngelis, a former porn actor, Project 2025 contributor, and advocate for defunding the Department of Education used social media to ask Donald Trump for a job.
Jeremy Carl, a fellow at the Project 2025 supporter The Claremont Institute who wrote a book published in April 2024 on his theory that the United States is plagued by anti-white racism fomented by progressives who hate white people, called for pardons of those imprisoned for storming the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, a popular refrain with Christian Nationalists.
This theme is one Charlie Kirk vowed to take up with Trump personally as he heads to Mar-a-Lago this weekend, he told listeners on his November 6 podcast.
Kirk, who was moved to tears on election night, was responsible for a large “army” of vote chasers in several swing states and is being lauded for his efforts, particularly with young voters.
The book banners at Moms For Liberty also celebrated wins for school board candidates they backed across the country in 40 different races.
Mike Howell of the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project made clear that the planned purge of civil servants and their replacement with Trump loyalists envisioned in Project 2025 is well underway. Howell has overseen a flurry of Freedom of Information Act requests directed at emails of current federal employees to determine who needs to be fired once Trump and Project 2025 move into the White House.
The Texas Public Policy Foundation, which Heritage’s Kevin Roberts previously led, issued a celebratory statement ending with “Rejoice indeed. America is back.”
The Claremont Institute also issued a statement Wednesday afternoon expressing their satisfaction in no uncertain terms.
“The Claremont Institute has long advocated for a return to the principles of the American Founding and the defense of the American way of life. Those principles and that way of life have been under siege by progressive ideology and policy from above and social erosion from below,” the statement read. “Reviving federalism and constitutional self-government is our path to combating the current authoritarianism of the Left and protecting ourselves against potential future incursions.”
The swift emergence of Project 2025’s architects and allies from their pre-election strategic silence signals a coordinated effort to implement their agenda. With Heritage Foundation’s Roberts’ fundraising efforts for Project 2025’s agenda and figures like Walsh, Johnson, and Kirk stepping forward to claim ownership of the project’s aims, the infrastructure for their planned institutional overhaul appears firmly in place. Their immediate focus on dismantling administrative agencies and implementing aggressive immigration policies indicates these may be among the first targets of their emboldened agenda.
