We’re grieving, but tragically not shocked, that there has been another racially motivated shooting in the US. A white man shot three people to death solely because they were Black.

According to the media reports, the killer used a gun that was covered in Nazi symbols and left a manifesto in which he stated that he “wanted to kill black people.”

What more must happen before our political leaders take proactive measures to stop the encouragement of racism through their speech and policies? Political leaders on both sides of the aisle must denounce racism and stop far-right violence in this country.

As we mourn the lives lost due to violent racism and are keeping the family of the three people who were killed in our thoughts, and all those who have previously lost family due to bigotry, we demand that politicians and tech companies take action now. These deaths can be prevented if the people with power accept their responsibility and do their jobs.
