November 6th was a terrible day for democracy and human rights.
Donald Trump, a convicted felon who has vowed to be “a dictator for only a day,” and who has plans to politicize our Department of Justice, to round up and cage immigrants, and to “protect” women “whether they like it or not,” is now president-elect of the United States.
Trump’s election has already emboldened extreme far-right groups and given new momentum to their campaigns against LGBTQ+ people, migrants, women, and other marginalized communities. His Project 2025 allies like the Heritage Foundation and Alliance Defending Freedom are ready to implement their plans for his administration to gut the civil rights of multiple communities, politicize our federal institutions, and support Trump’s pursuit of abject authoritarianism, while inculcating Christian Nationalism into every aspect of our government and Americans’ lives.
He’s also already given strength to groups like the Proud Boys, White Lives Matter, and militia organizations. Today, we’re tracking their activities and plans to “help” Trump implement his promised policies, which will only create harm.
Here at GPAHE, we have prepared for this possibility and are putting into place intensified efforts to resist a Trump administration’s tactics to expand his power while weakening that of ordinary citizens. We will expose and counter these groups, dedicating resources to mitigate their influence and track their networks. We will make sure that organizations and individuals attempting to strip our rights are confronted at every instance. And we will follow every avenue and employ every strategy to blunt their plans.
We aren’t going to let Trump and his far-right accomplices destroy LGBTQ+ people, women, immigrants, and other marginalized communities. And we will do all that is humanly possible to preserve our precious democracy.
Our mission remains clear: combating authoritarianism and the hate and extremism that fuels it. In the days ahead, we will share more about our response to these extraordinary events and how we will counter the threats they pose to democracy and human rights.
We are very grateful for your commitment to America’s core values of inclusion and freedoms for everyone. And we’re very grateful for your partnership with us and our team at GPAHE.
