The Global Project Against Hate and Extremism (GPAHE) warns over the scheduled appearance of Austrian Identitarian leader Martin Sellner and Italian neo-Nazi Guido Taietti at the upcoming American Renaissance (AmRen) Conference, a major gathering for white supremacists in the U.S. The event, hosted by white supremacist Jared Taylor, is set to take place from November 15-17, 2024, at the Montgomery Bell Inn and Conference Center near Nashville, Tennessee. Both Sellner and Taietti have well-documented ties to violent extremism, and their presence is expected to support the growing transnational connections between European and American extreme far-right movements.
Sellner, arguably the most prominent leader within the racist European Identitarian movement, will be traveling to the U.S. to deliver a lecture titled “Remigration — A Hope for Europe,” expounding on his theory that involves the forced mass deportation of migrants and ethnic minorities back to their supposed “home countries,” an ethnic cleansing of those of non-white descent. This is his recommended solution to the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, which claims that white populations are being systematically “replaced” by non-white migrants. Guido Taietti, a high-ranking figure in the neo-fascist CasaPound movement in Italy, is expected to speak on a talk titled “Identitarianism: Errors and Lessons from Europe.” Taietti has been convicted of violent crimes, including a brutal attack that left his victim with severe head trauma.
GPAHE has expressed deep concern over the men’s planned participation in the U.S. event. Their track records include investigations for criminal activity and explicit calls for racist actions, raising serious questions about their entry into the United States. In 2019, Sellner had his U.S. visa revoked due to his links to the Christchurch shooter, who killed 51 people in a racially motivated attack in New Zealand. Despite this, he is now scheduled to attend the AmRen conference, one of the most prominent platforms for white nationalists in the U.S.
“Martin Sellner and Guido Taietti are not just fringe figures; they represent a violent ideology that has fueled hate crimes and terror attacks globally. They have repeatedly propagated ideologies of hate that have directly led to violence. Allowing them to cross international borders to further their agenda not only legitimizes their dangerous views but also strengthens the networks of hate that link the far-right movements across the globe.” Dr. Heidi Beirich, co-founder of GPAHE, declared.
“We call on the Department of Homeland Security to take immediate action and prevent these extremists from entering the U.S. Allowing them to speak at a gathering of white supremacists only serves to legitimize their violent ideologies and could further incite division and violence within our borders.” Wendy Via, CEO and co-founder of GPAHE, stated.
